Biography


James Robert Lowe is a virtuoso classical guitarist and the founder and director of Baltimore School of Music. lowe was previously an adjunct teacher at Community College Baltimore County and the guitar assistant at The Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University to Manuel Barrueco, Ray Chester, and Julian Gray.

He has performed as a soloist with the Omaha Symphony, Opera Omaha, Peabody Chamber Opera, and the Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestra. He has also performed across the US and in Italy with Grammy nominated soprano Tony Arnold and mandolinist Avi Avatel.

Lowe holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Master of Music from Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, and Graduate Performance Diploma from Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where he was a protege of Julian Gray. He is also an alumni of the Goldman Sach's 10,000 Small Businesses Program, graduating in the first Baltimore Class.

In his spare time, you'll find him outside. Lowe is an avid runner (he won second place age division in the North Face Trail Racing Series in Breckenridge, Colorado), cyclist (he is a former collegiate competitive cyclist with the Johns Hopkins Cycling Team), and enjoys hiking, camping, fly fishing, snowshoeing, and skiing.
